Successful 1st Sail Training incorporating an SB20 group
Over the Early May Bank Holiday, Sail Training incorporated an SB20 group for the first time. This allowed members who are not keen races to utilise the club keelboats. We aim to create new opportunities for members across the club to learn how to take the keelboats out sailing to get the most out of these club boats. We had a great time introducing these boats to new people and hope that those who joined enjoyed it too. If this is something that would interest you keep an eye out for future sail training sessions as we would like to offer this again later in the year. This is also a good opportunity for younger members who may be interested in the racing pathway in the future.

Team Represented MSC at the Warsash Spring Series in an SB20
A team from Marconi attended the Warsash Spring Series on the 18th & 19th April, in a slightly different format than usual. This event involved a fleet of SB20, most teams brought their own boats, we charted one from the SB20 association. We often race in matched boats provided by clubs, which meant we had an extra layer of rig tension settings adding to our sailing. The longer course than BKL event meant sailing speed had a bigger effect on results. We often rely on our slick manoeuvres, kite hoists and recoveries to win races. We learnt a lot about the importance of constantly fine tuning our rig and sail settings to gain advantage during changing weather conditions.
