Marconi Sailing Club is all set to welcome visitors and home sailors alike for the 35th East Coast Piers Race on 13th and 14th July.
A long distance race for catamarans and fast dinghies which attracts competitors from all over the UK – the event also raises funds for The Cirdan Trust and Essex Air Ambulance. We are grateful to our supporters including Mighty Oak Brewery, Essex Spirits Co, Majestic Crystal, Allen Performance Sailing, Sailing Chandlery, GP Sails and FunkyMonkey Boat Names for helping us to raise money for these two great charities.
Saturday comprises two inshore races for competitors to stretch their sea legs before setting off on the long distance race itself on the Sunday. There is a choice of two courses – the Colne Point Race is 27 miles long and the full East Coast Piers Race is nearly 50 miles long heading out to Walton Pier and back. This year, all the action will be captured by PhotoBoat Photography
There is free onsite camping from Friday night to Monday morning with the bar and galley open across the weekend and a Saturday evening meal included in the entry fee. It promises to be a fantastic weekend both on and off the water.
Entries are still open and will close on Wednesday 10th July. For NOR, SIs and to enter – please visit: www.eastcoastpiersrace.com
(Please note there are PY cut offs for each course and a mandatory set of safety equipment to be carried by all boats. See the ECPR website for full details)
Finally a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have given up their time to make this event possible and to all the competitors for bringing the race to life. We look forward to welcoming you all!
