MSC Virtual Regatta

Hello everybody!

Our very own David Nickalls has been busy and has put together the below opportunity to get involved with some sailing ……………..

I hope the lockdown hasn’t left you missing the water too much. If you are after some action in a boat, there is a way of doing this without breaking the government guidelines! It may not be as exciting as a classic Wednesday night drift, but this can be done from the comfort of your own home.

‘Virtual Regatta: Inshore’ is an online sailing game with an app for AndroidiPhone and is also playable in a browser on a Computer. The club is lucky enough to have a VIP pass thanks to the RYA and VR, allowing us to host private races for club members. These races will be running every Wednesday from now onwards.

I have made a short video on singing up and joining a Marconi race for those that are unfamiliar with the app. (Link Below)

Once you are familiar with the game and you decide you would like to join in on Wednesday night racing, please add your name to this sign on sheet! Signing on in ADVANCE is very important. There is a 20-boat limit for each race, if we get lots of boats signed up, I will split the racing into two time slots and update the sheet accordingly, so please keep an eye out! For now, the first race will begin THIS WEDNESDAY  (8/4/20) at 7:30pm.

If you are unable to make this Wednesday, do not worry! This will be going on for a while and I hope to formalise a series in the coming weeks, you will not be forgotten!

Happy Racing !

Those that sign up will be added to a Facebook group where faster communication is possible, we will get a Google group call going for those that wish to join, this will be published on the facebook group or by email if you chose to not join on Facebook. I often find that having two devices (maybe a PC and mobile) works best when joining the call and playing the game.
