MARCONI SAILING CLUB FINALIST AS 2018 SAILING CLUB OF THE YEAR
Marconi Sailing Club (MSC) has been announced as a runner up in the 2018 Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Yachts and Yachting’s Club of the Year.
It was a hard-fought contest for the award that celebrates outstanding achievements and contributions to sailing in the UK, but on this occasion MSC was ‘pipped to the post’ by Notts County.
The award was announced and presented on Saturday 3rd March at the 2018 Dinghy Show, held at Alexandra Palace.
MSC’s Commodore, Michaela Dowley attended the prize giving at Alexandra Palace, and comments “It was an incredible honour to even be shortlisted as the RYA’s 2018 Club of the Year. The whole club has worked incredibly hard to get the sailing club to the position that it is at today, and to even be an awards finalist is fantastic recognition of that effort.”
She goes on to say “MSC operates entirely on voluntary help. The passion, care and dedication of all our members towards the club is incredible. Everyone at the club should incredibly proud of how far we’ve come.”
MSC has gone from strength to strength in recent years, introducing a number of key initiatives that has not only raised the clubs profile in the public eye but actively enabled it to fulfil its mission of offering ‘membership to all’. MSC caters for all ages and experience, offering a breadth of water based activities that include dinghy, catamaran and keelboat sailing, yachting, windsurfing and rowing. They are also a certified RYA Training Centre – an accreditation that isn’t easily earnt.
