Thank you to all our members who attended the MSC AGM on Sunday. It was great to see so many people at the Club on a blustery winters day and taking an active interest in the progress of the Club over the past 12 months.
Along with the annual dinghy racing prizes, I was pleased to award the following prestigious prizes during the AGM:
- Mamgu trophy for best log: Laura Ivermee for her entertaining account of Woozle Hunter’s participation in the 2015 Fastnet race
- Barograph trophy for outstanding committment to MSC: Peter Ward for his drive and inspiration in organising the first cruiser autumn racing series
- Seamanship trophy: Tim Wood for his 8000-mile epic journey across the Atlantic in a Saddler 34
- Commodore’s Plate: Jason Clarke as an inspirational young cadet
As well as the formal AGM business, I had the opportunity to present some extra items to the membership, including our plans to apply for a Sport England Inspired Facilities grant of £75k. This is to support the development of a major clubhouse extension to enable expansion of our training capabilities and to provide accessible storage for club dinghy equipment. I also informed the audience of the Board’s recent update to the Club Ambitions document which sets our key ambitions for the foreseeable future and directs future development.

Wishing you all a relaxing winter and all the best for the festive period.
