Cruising in Company 2017 – Details to follow
All these cruises will be published on the club’s notice boards some weeks before the date and there will also be an informal gathering organised closer to the season starting where we can discuss the cruises in some detail.
6th May – Fitting out supper.
27th 28th 29th May – Shakedown weekend to Brightlingsea has been booked over Bank Holiday weekend.
May Bank Holiday.
We intend sailing to Brightlingsea on the Saturday, having a lazy day Sunday with a bring your own food BBQ in the evening (Depending on the weather) and a sail back on Monday.
17th to 30th June – Summer Holiday cruise to southern Holland. Probably via Ramsgate and Oostende. Timings to take advantage of favourable tide sets and the long periods of daylight in June.
1st July – East Coast Piers Race, (ECPR), motherboats will be gathering at Brightlingsea.
This is the main full club event of the year, the cruiser fleet support this event by supplying the mother boats that mark and monitor the full course. The task involves anchoring at the allocated position before the race starts and being a marker for the fleets of cats and dinghies to follow up the coast. You will also need to take the sail numbers as they pass outward and inward bound. Although there is a fleet of RIBs covering the course, you may be asked to assist in rescue support and providing a rest stop for competitors.
8th 9th July – The short journey to Tollesbury marina with its swimming pool and tennis courts has been booked. Tollesbury Marina
22nd 23rd July – The traditional Watercress Run at HeybridgeBasin has been booked.
Locking in time to be advised.
Many people take their tenders and go for a trip up river, buying their food at Tescos for the lock side BBQ in the evening.
Lock out Sunday morning and back to the club.
Heybridge Basin
August Bank Holiday 26th to 28th – We are heading up the Wallet to Ipswich Haven.
Saturday we sail up the coast to Ipswich Haven marina, staying two nights. A bbq is held in the marina on the Sunday night We lock out Monday with some people heading back to the club and the rest spending the remainder of the week visiting such places as Wrabness, the Deben, Walton and Mistley.
