The River Blackwater moorings in Essex are some of the best with many locations within easy reach for weekend or week long sailing trips. Marconi offer both deep water and drying moorings for a range of boat sizes.
Our cruiser fleet are very active with a number of cruises throughout the sailing season. It’s not only on the water activities which are run, there are also a number of on land social events held within our spacious club house and club site.
The River Blackwater is a very wide river unlike others on the East Coast and our deep water moorings are available at all states of the tide. With our large slipway and launching area you can also launch your tender to access your boat at any time.

Our approach to running the club…
We pride ourselves on being a self-help club and we have no employed staff (other than cleaners), so everyone mucks in and helps with what needs to be done. There’s usually a working party at each end of the sailing season to keep the clubhouse and site in good condition. Members also get involved by manning our safety boats, helping with cadet week, or any one of the many roles that are vital to keeping a vibrant sailing club running. This is the same with our cruiser fleet who help lay their own moorings and recover their own boats.
Cruiser moorings
Our location and facilities are popular; if you require a deep water mooring for your boat it will be necessary to join the club in order to gain a position. Moorings Secretary, Peter Clayton will be pleased to advise on the availability of moorings on 01621 772841.
Come and visit
Why not come and visit the club and check out our site and facilities for yourself? We always welcome guests and the best time to visit is over a weekend when more members are on site to answer your questions. Come and see why we rate ours as some of the best moorings in Essex.
