Saturday 23 August 2014 at Marconi SC Marconi Sailing Club welcomes the Eastern Area Topper sailors and would like to extend a invitation to join us not only for the Topper Traveller Series Event on Saturday but for the whole weekend with camping available on Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of August, at a cost of £5.00 per entered boat per night. McGregor IV & Woozle Hunter The Marconi SC cruiser racing contingent continue to impress this season with boats very well placed in both the RORC and EAORA series. Woozle Hunter is currently sitting in 1st place and looking very strong, in the over all rankings for the EAORA series this season. EAORA  series 2014 MGregor IV is currently leading the RORC class 4 series and is 3rd overall. McGregor IV is now preparing for the Round Ireland Race in Dublin. On Saturday 28th June the boat will take to the start line off Wicklow on the East Coast and will race clockwise, non-stop around all the drying rocks belonging to the island of Ireland (apart from Rockall). MSC Cruiser Racing contingent are having a great 2014 season BJRC Smith Cup Race 24th May Marconi were represented by Caroline 3rd (Andy Ellis), Blue Moon 8th (Richard Robarts), and Woozle Hunter (RET) The North Sea Race. 30th May (180 miles) Marconi SC were mentioned by Ian Ivermee (Woozle Hunter) when he was quoted in the Royal Ocean Racing Clubs preview of the North Sea Race. Oppi Club is a club centred on the Optimist sailing dinghy, aimed at budding sailors who are too young to take part in the clubs excellent sail training programme. Children can join in with  Oppi Club from age 3, we ask that parents stay with the children as they are so small and need quite a bit of help, last time it was not clear who enjoyed the activities the most the children or the adults. On Saturday 24th May Marconi Sailing Club held its first gathering of Oppi Club. This is a club centred on the Optimist sailing dinghy, aimed at budding sailors who are too young to take part in the clubs excellent sail training programme. During the morning session great fun was had locating and identifying the previously hidden parts of one of the club Optimists after which some excellent colouring skills were demonstrated, colouring in pictures of Optimist Dinghies.
