Over the last two seasons a small band of dedicated members have been steadily working towards gaining recognition from the RYA as a Dinghy Sailing Training Centre. We are now ready to offer members our first RYA Dinghy Sailing Course: RYA Level 2 Dinghy Course November 11th & 12th —- 2017. Fresh from their headlining performance at Woodfest 2017 Marconi SC are very excited to welcome 21st Century. Saturday 27th May 2017. No doubt you have heard of the forthcoming challenge to walk from Maldon to the sailing club along the sea wall – a distance of approximately 15 miles. Some of us have been “training” and doing winter walks once a month mostly along stretches of the Blackwater. We have been very lucky with the weather and the good company and have had some beautiful days of walking an average of 7 miles at a time. Sprint 15 Summer Traveller Event Marconi is again the host club for the first of the 2017 Summer Traveller Series for the Sprint 15s on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th April. Racing will consist of three races back to back on Saturday afternoon and two races on Sunday morning, including the figure of eight race round Osea and Northey Islands. Briefing is at 11am on Saturday with the first race starting no earlier than 12 noon. A Laser Open was held at Marconi on Sunday 5th June with six Marconi sailors joined by two visitors from Blackwater SC.  The day started with decent winds and a promising forecast of 9 – 11 knots from a NNE direction.  The fleet set off to the start area in conjunction with the Lark fleet who were competing in a two day event.  As the start sequence approached, it became clear that the wind was not going to stick to the forecast.  Following a significant shift to the left, the start had to be postponed to reset the course and…

4th & 5Th June Marconi Sailing Club We were delighted to host fifteen Larks for the Lark Helly Hansen Great 8 Open on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June.  With a series format of three races back to back on both days, the fleet headed out on Saturday in a steady, if gentle, northerly breeze on Saturday afternoon.  With the course set in the bay to the west of Marconi, the course took the fleet right across the channel, and the River Blackwater tide, between the Osea shore and Steeple Bay.
