Marconi Sailing Club and the East Coast Piers Race awarded Yachts and Yachting Gold Star Award.
The East Coast Piers Race has been awarded a Yachts and Yachting Gold Star Award in the February 2016 edition of the sailing magazine. The award is for the large amount of money we raised in 2015 from the East Coast Piers Race.
The BIG cheque for over £33,000 was presented to The Cirdan Sailing Trust just before the clubs AGM in November 2015. We smashed the £22,000 figure from the previous year.
Proceeds from the race weekend and sponsorship go to The Cirdan Sailing Trust which provides sailing experiences for disadvantaged children.
The East Coast Piers Race (ECPR) is a long distance race weekend with FREE camping held at Marconi Sailing Club in June or July. Traditionally there is in shore medium length racing on Saturday then the longer races on the Sunday. The event is open to fast dinghies and catamarans, there are three different course options of different length with the longest being 48miles. Along the course are a number of mother boats who are able to provide support with no penalty so the course is easy to follow. It’s a challenge but a manageable one. The race will be held over the 9th and 10th July in 2016.
