RYA Power Boat 2 Training at MSC
Marconi Sailing Club is now offering RYA Power Boat Level 2 training to members who help to operate the clubs safety boats in support of club activities. Initially those members who already operate the boats have been identified as a priority. Eventually it is hoped that the club will be able to train everyone who operates a club RIB to at least RYA level 2.
It is hoped that following on from our success in gaining RYA approval to run PB1 & PB2 courses that we will be able to offer Safety Boat training later this year.
Marconi Sailing Club Training Centre Principle, Bob Collins or Rear Commodore (Sailing) Pat Shaw are the people to talk to if you require more information.
The RYA PB2 course is usually run over 2 days in a group of 2 or 3 and the cost to MSC members is £45.00, this represents the cost to the club of buying the course materials, certificates, log books and fuel for the boats. This remarkably low price is possible as everyone involved is giving their time for free.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 (2 days)
The Level 2 course is an introduction to power boating.
No previous knowledge or experience is required and you do not have to do the level 1 course first.
The aim of the Level 2 course is to teach boat handling and seamanship in power boats, and the course is a good route for anyone requiring a power boat ICC (International Certificate of Competence) for craft up to 10 metres.
Passing this course is a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to take an RYA safety boat course.
