Club cruise to Brightlingsea
A total of 11 boats made up the fleet, including some first timers, as well as people with new yachts. Well, new to them at least!
Peter & Sue (Last Dream), Roy & Margaret (Serupin II), & Derek & Hillary (C’Est Moi), made the journey the previous day, with Derek & Hillary anchoring at Pyefleet for the night.
For those sailing on the Saturday morning, it dawned grey & miserable, with some drizzle to finish things! We also had the wind on the nose nearly all the way, so it was a case for the “iron topsail”, at least the batteries got a charge!
Last Dream had a battery failure, so a trip to the chandler was required with the enjoyment of getting a large battery back in an inflatable tender.
Saturday evening, a meal was enjoyed in Winkies, which was up to their usual exceptionally high standard. Yum, yum! A few others partook of a meal in the Indian, Kovalam.
A barbecue was planned for Sunday lunchtime, which was delayed until the evening owing to the weather. As usual, the “Marconi Barbecue Curse” struck, which cancelled it. Oh well, never mind.
The evening was spent on Derek & Hillary’s yacht, with men in the cockpit & ladies below.
Most left midday on the Monday & we even managed to sail from Bateman’s Tower to the mooring. On my part, a most enjoyable afternoon & a beautiful sail to boot.
All in all, a fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend, with great company. Thanks to all who took part for making it so enjoyable.
