12 boats took part in our socially distanced first Pursuit Race today. Another four boats headed out for a casual sail – despite the decidedly unpromising weather conditions for mid July! Everyone enjoyed getting back out on the water and, in particular, being able to get out on the water with support boat cover provided and with the opportunity to go for a race. COVID-19 Update from MSC Board CLUB NOW CLOSED – Please do not visit Marconi Sailing Club, stay at home. The measures we are taking, with effect from Saturday 21st March 2020 are as follows: All Organised Club sailing activity is curtailed until 30th April. The Board will be reviewing all club activity in mid to late April and then on a regular basis dependent on government/RYA advice and members will be kept informed. The new Nacra 15 class has recently been introduced competitively over the past few year as a youth class pathway boat prior to stepping up to the full foiling Olympic Nacra 17 professional adult class boat. Of all the British Youth Sailing Team pathway boats, the Nacra is quite an elite class. The class is still in development and currently there are only 6 active competing boats in the whole of the UK. East Coast Piers Race weekend once again a success with 86 entries taking on the long distance racing challenge. East Coast Piers Race (ECPR) is a weekend of sailing held at Marconi Sailing Club in Essex, with all funds raised from entry and weekend activities going to chosen charities the Cirdan Sailing Trust and Essex Air Ambulance. ECPR 2019 was part three of the Allen Endurance Series. We’re pleased that so many boats pre-entered this year, it makes organising such a complex event much easier.
