The SOLO Fleet currently has 22 members who take part in a very active sailing and social programme throughout the year. The fleet was established in 1980 and has grown steadily up to the current level. The sailing at the club is ideal for a SOLO as the tidal estuary location gives a constantly varying set of conditions whilst not being quite as exposed as the open sea.
The sailing comprises of a spring, summer and autumn points series which are sailed on Sundays, the SOLO fleet having its own start. Some fleet members also sail in the Wednesday evening handicap races.
The club hosts an annual SOLO Open meeting which is part of the SOLO Association Eastern Area Series and consistently attracts an entry of around 30 boats including helms of national standard. The more experienced Marconi members take part in area and national events.

During the Winter months a range of social events take place which supplement the general club events. These include pub meals, ten pin bowling, Sailboat Exhibition visit and an annual SOLO Dinner. During the Summer a number of barbecues are held after the sailing on Sundays and these are very much family occasions.
