Handicap Fleet Events 2008
The Handicap Fleet 'Cruise in Company' events have proved to be a popular addition to the sailing calendar. Getting together as a group for long distance sails is not only fun but a safe way to experience more of the river.
Boats and crews have to be self sufficient and responsible for their own safety but we sail as a fleet providing mutual assistance as required.
We usually try to have a 'Down River' cruise, to experience more of the estuary, and an 'Up River' cruise to Maldon for ice cream on the prom!
If you haven’t cruised before then it is usually sensible to take a spare shackle, a short piece of rope, a knife, a paddle and some suitable rope to use as a tow rope in case you need a tow home. Also, don’t forget plenty of lunch, drinks and some spare clothes.
Keep an eye on the noticeboard for dates and times or get in touch with the Handicap Fleet Captain or the Sailing Secratary (phone numbers in year book).
