The Fitting Out Supper had been postponed from its more normal April date due to the building work at bthe Club. Indeed it was still a tight run thing with the builders and some Club members working until 10 pm on the Friday to ensure that the new facilities were ready. And what facilities they are. Despite a few teething problems, the majority of comments contained fulsome praise and I think we all owe Murray Bates much for his work on our behalf alongside the builders.
The Mamgu bar was packed as some sixty people waited the call to move upstairs for the meal. Tina, as usual excelled herself and gave us a meal upto her usual high standard. How she and her team do this from our galley still amazes me.
As a change from the usual singalong, Derek Gardner introduced a game of "Heads and Tails" which raised £75.00 for the Essex Air Ambulance.
All in all another very successful evening enhanced by the new facilities.
