Cat Fleets News... Sprint15's, Medium Cats, Fast Cat's.

Happy New Year to you all.First of all a date for your diaries: The joint Catamaran AGM will be held at 2pm at the Club on Sunday 12th February 2012. There will be a Sunday Roast prior to the meeting at approx 12.45 where we will be joined by members of the Handicap fleet who have attended their AGM in the morning (from 11am) and the bar will be open. Please let me know if you will be requiring lunch.

There are a number of important issues to discuss at the AGM but mostly we are looking for new fleet captains to represent the medium cats and the fast cats. I will be standing for the Sprint 15 job again, unless of course anyone else whould like to have a go!

We are hoping to make a concerted effort to tidy up the Cat park this year and free up some spaces as there are more boats looking for slots this year - which is good news. The middle two rows will need particular attention and we will be discussing how to go about this on the 12th.The Club will also be clamping down on boats that have been abandoned and the members that have not paid their fees, so please make sure that when you get your new membership stickers that they go on your boats ASAP, please also make sure all the boats and trailers are clearly identified with your names and phone numbers.

There are a number of events planned for the season including a Sprint15 open in July, the ECPR, the Steeple Chase and hopefully a Dart 18 open at the end of the season - so lots to keep us busy sailing throughout the year.

It was encouraging to see more medium fleet cats racing by the end of last year - mostly Dart 18's, I hope you will keep it up this year guys - well done on newcomer Rob Clay and his crew for picking up several trophies at the prize giving in November - great to have ethusiastic new faces in our midst but hopefully there will be a few more new faces this year to challenge Rob!!

Peter Richardson has once again offered to give informal tuition to anyone new to catamaran sailing mostly on a wednesday afternoon or saturday depending on availability, and is happy to offer advice on boat maintainence, rigging and tuning.
Don't forget the Sprint 15 fleet have a spare boat you can borrow if you would like to try out cat sailing, or join in with the catamaran events.

I am looking forward to seeing you on 12th February and during the new season.

Regards
Fenella Miller - Sprint 15 fleet captain
