Notice of Race.
1. Rules.
The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 – 2012 as amended by the sailing instructions for the event.
Competitors should note that Marconi Sailing Club implement the RYA Racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 – 2012).
2. Advertising.
Advertising will be to Category C.
3. Eligibility and Entry.
The event is open to all boats of the Solo Class. This event is a qualifier for the Solo Eastern Travellers and Sea Series.
4. Fees.
The entry fee for the event shall be £8.00; £4.00 for helms under 16 years of age on the day.
5. Schedule.
5.1 There will be a briefing at approximately 10.15am Saturday at the club
5.2 The first race will not start before 11.00am.
5.3 Up to three races will be held.
5.4 Races may be held “back to back”.
5.5 Further notices will be displayed on the official notice board not later than 10.30am.
6. Sailing Instructions.
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
7. Courses.
Courses will be displayed in the Race Office 45 minutes before the start of each race. In the event of back to back races a course may be displayed on the committee boat.
8. Scoring.
8.1 Scoring shall be in accordance with RRS89.3. Low Point System except that boats that DNS or were DSQ shall be scored the number of boats in the series plus one and boats that DNF or RET shall score the number of boats in that race plus one.
8.2 Three races are scheduled of which one race shall be completed to constitute the series. Each boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores with her worst score discarded if three races have been completed. If less than three races are completed there shall be no discards.
9. Prizes.
Prizes shall be awarded to the first 3 places; more depending on entry.
10 Disclaimer of Liability.
Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See RRS4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to or during or after the event.
11 Insurance.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
12. Camping.
Camping is available locally at the weekend.
