2008 Marine Police talk re Marinewatch

Sunday 14 December 2008

Derek Gardner wrote following the talk that leaflets are available in the Bar so that members can send the details of their boat equipment to the Marine Police database. He also has some spare copies at home.

All you have to do is to fill it in with the appropriate details and send it in to the address on the leaflet. Don't forget to keep a record yourself of all your details and serial numbers! You may have to include an additional page to list all your equipment as necessary. At least if it is logged and then stolen there is a chance of catching the people responsible. You will be issues with a special sticker and unique number to quote if necessary.

If you do nothing then we cannot expect to get on top of this spate of thefts. You have to help yourselves to ensure that outboards are removed, (there are still some to be seen around the club on boats!), equipment locked away, valuables taken home if possible. We have to be proactive. Don't expect it just to happen - you need to review your own security to try and avoid any future thefts. Don't think it wont happen to you!

Would everyone that sends (or has sent) their details in please inform Roger Camp so we can keep a log of who is registered so in the event of a theft we can detail this to the authorities.
